27 May 2014

Dear Shri Srinivas Naidu,

We are indeed very sad to learn about the passing away of Shri KG Appusamy, former

MD& Chairman of Air India, and a dear personal friend of many early Flight Engineers

who had had the fortune to work with him in the hangar in the early part of his

career in Air India. On behalf the Flight Engineer Community of Air India, the Indian

Flight Engineers Association and me personally, I convey to the family members of the

deceased our heartfelt condolences and deep sympathies on the bereavement.

Air Indians have always appreciated the contribution Mr. Appusamy made to the

Company in his various roles. Rising from the floors of the hangar at Old Airport,

Kalina, he left an indelible mark on every space he occupied culminating on the

22nd

floor of the iconic Air India Building at Nariman Point, Bombay. He was a man

of action, of high integrity and morals. Personally close to Mr. JRD Tata, he was

entrusted with responsibilities by choice of suitability than of nepotism. The family

can be proud of the legacy he leaves behind and the impression he has left in the

minds of those who dealt with him. His personal touch has warmed and comforted

the hearts of many of his contemporaries and those who worked for him or in his

office, that he made it a point to reach out to them or their families in times of

distress or personal losses. As a great son of Air India and an authority on Aviation in

India of his era, he will be missed forever.

I close this condolence message with our sincere prayers that God give you all in the

family the strength and resonance to bear this great, but inevitable loss.

May the Departed Soul of Shri Appusamy Rest in Eternal Peace

Yours sincerely,

for and on behalf of IFEA and Indian Flight Engineers’ Welfare Society,

sd.
